Where Can I Find Information to Build a Corporate Network, Including Hardware, Cabling, And Associated Cost?

The network will support Manufacturing, Inventory Management, Finance & Accounting, VoIP, eMail, R&D, CRM, as well as a remote sales force.

  2. If this is a small to medium sized businuess it usually best to involve a contractor if you don't have network guru's. You can usually have them workup a plan for you that fits all your requirements and contract in for them to teach you how to work this new network beast they are installing for you. If you want to do all of the work yourself you can always check out froogle and determine price quotes from there.

  3. I am going to toss questions back at you. Is this your business? Do you make money spending hours on end learning just enough networking knowledge to get in over your head or do you make money spending your time with your product or service?

    I think it's great to try and be informed however the knowledge level you are asking about is something people spends years acquiring and trying to get that same level of info from a few books and web sites is just not going to happen in the time frame you are probably thinking. Do yourself a huge favour and find a local technology group to do this for you.

    If your a tech and your trying to get this info so you can actually perform this function then your doing your customer a disservice. The odds of not making the right call because of a lack of knowledge are great and not worth the potential damages. Remember there is professional liability. Don't learn on your customers dime and with their business.
